Pose, Posh!

Since I basically have nothing to do this particular week, I've been wasting my time for lurking things on web! I've been searching over some magazine spreads of Korean artists who I like, then booooooom I got lots! There are so many nice recent and past magazine spreads of my favorite artists which I've never seen before. So I began saving my favorite shots!

As always, click the image for its source.

First, no other than my man Choi Seunghyun. I've seen many spreads of him, like for Cosmo, Vogue, but his looks for this spread (especially the cover shot) for Dazed and Confused is just a picture perfect of T.O.P, rapper Seunghyun. Yes it somehow reminds me of him rapping full-heartedly and by saying that, yes, I miss his voice, which pulled me to this whole world of Korean music scene in the first place and I really want to get it again soon(er).

Next, the Cosmopolitan spread of the tiger and the giraffe: Kim Jong Kook and Lee Kwang Soo! Whoever watch Running Man must know about this two men. To be honest, this spread is pretty shocking to me because, well.... I have different impression about them haha! Again, whoever watch Running Man surely understand what I mean! I mean, I know that Kwang Soo is a model in daily basis and Jong Kook is a singer, but that impression is kinda brushed off by their witty and funny appearances in variety shows! So looking at them through this spread, all friendly and manly, is very heart-warming! And may I add that the article along the spread is worth to read, it shows how well and lovely relationships they have in reality.

Move to my most favorite female idol group, 2NE1! And may I add that I really, really miss them and I really, really want 2NE1 comeback. Hear that, YG? These various spreads of each member in four different magazines which are released on the same month this year (I think on March) simultaneously is like shouting 'COMEBACK! COMEBACK!' and yet there's still no news!

Anyway, I love all the spreads! My favorite is Minzy for Marie Claire! All of them are fabulous, Dara for ELLE is so pretty, Bom for Allure is graceful, CL for Harper's Bazaar is as fierce as always, but this spread shows us that the baby Minzy has grown up into a beautiful lady. She goes fierce and all confidence with her electric blue hair. Dara is being goddess and vulnerable in her photos for ELLE. The queen of corn, Bom, is really really pretty and CL is just being her usual self: queen.

As for the closure, I'd like to introduce a lady singer which I've previously known from variety show Family Outing: Lee Hyori. She's a well-known national singer in Korea, loved by the public despite all the controversies around her. She recently just released her fifth album Monochrome with three new MVs on Youtube. I really, really love the track and the MV of Amor Mio. Have been listening to it all day and not gotten tired of this yet.

As part of her promotional activities (well, I guess), she's done a pictorial with Vogue. She nailed the circus-theme perfectly and I love it.

And... that's all for this post. I still have a lot pictorials that I find amazing but this post would be very very long! These are my ultimate favorite, though. But the Dazed and Confused with TOP as its cover is the ultimate favorite! I (wait, ALL his stans!) miss him so much that we could cry over a single picture or selca or fanacc or everything about him for days.

Come on, man, drink your wine outside your cave.

The Cypher 2012

Hello, 2013! Alhamdulillah I can see you ;)

Just some quick updates. I'll write a dedication post for one of my best friend who'll be leaving Jakarta very soon... But later! I'm just going to share my new year's jam lol. Since I like Big Bang, I guess my likings of music has slowly shifted. I'm more towards rap these days. I just realized it when I actually kind of like SNSD's I Got A Boy. A lot of people dislike it, but to be honest, this song could be my most favorite song of SNSD so far hahah. I mean, compared to Gee, IGAB totally wins. The song is confusing, yes. It's like five different songs combined in one. But I like the beats. It makes me nodding my head while listening hahah.

But it doesn't mean that I dislike slow songs, lol. Sometimes I feel nostalgic when I'm listening to Blue, and to be honest if I'm in a bad mood, I might crying lol or at least got my eyes teary. My on-the-go playlist in my iPod includes a lot of slow or r&b songs of Big Bang, 2NE1, and Epik High!

I guess because I have a lot more stress now than in the past, I need a head banger. Songs which make me nodding, sing-screaming (if you understand what I mean hahah). Songs which make me relax a bit, because of the fun beats hahah. But since Big Bang is not too hip-hop, I guess my likings for hip-hop is just up to that standard. And I don't know if I only like Korean hip-hop, or hip-hop in general. But the SBS Gayo Daejun's performance of 'The Cypher 2012' by Epik High, Simon D, Gaeko, and Choiza really wowed me. Like wow. Wow. I've been repeating it so many times, although I really don't know the meanings of it nor how to sing it. I just keep nodding my head.

And because of The Cypher 2012, I truly adore DJ Tukutz more. I like Epik High, but because Tukutz doesn't sing, he sometimes lost in my radar. The Cypher 2012 is mixed by him and I looooooooooooooove it so much, like LOVE it. Love you Tukutz.

Here it is, The Cypher 2012. Maybe some of you don't like it as I do, different taste! But I find it really addictive hahah. Oh, I like Gaeko's part the most! If I could sing it, I would change the lyrics to AR - AI - ZET - KEY - EI a ka R-I-Z-K-A hahahah! (It's actually G A E K O)

And Tablo gave us the link to download it for FREE! Yeah! But somehow I couldn't download it straightaway, I don't know is it only me who got this problem. So I downloaded it here.

Enjoy! And happy new year! I wish we all will have a merciful year ahead :)

Solo Album, Please?

I was so excited when I heard that Daesung would have his own solo ALBUM and solo CONCERT. I mean, wow! After all he went through in past year, this could be his jumping stone to get better individual acknowledgment as an artist, as a singer. I love his vocal so much. He also deserves the chance to get a spotlight just for himself, once in awhile.

But then, I got a little bit confused when the album would be a Japanese album, and the concert would be held in Japan. Japan, first? I know that it'd be such brilliant work from him no matter it's Korean or Japanese, but it's kinda weird, to be honest.  I mean why not Korea, where he has a lot of loyal fans who've been cheering for him since debut. I just think that YG should back him up for producing a nice, surprising gift for them.

And then, couple days ago, I just figured out that it's a cover album. Means that Daesung will some already existing songs. I... got more confused. Again, although I know that he'd be amazing whatever he sings, I also know that he deserves a more proper album. By proper, I mean the album which really belongs to him, in which he has all the songs are owned by himself. The track  list can be found here. I'm a little disappointed, to be honest. I was expecting an album of him which has more tracks like Wings which is such a nice and sweet work from him and GD. I don't know is it the company's decision to produce this cover album, or Daesung's. But well, yeah, as disappointed as I am, I still believe that whatever it is, it's probably the best for Daesung for the time being.

I don't know what are the reasons but I just wish he'd do well, although I know that he will :) And I really want to attend the concert, but no chance for me at all, unfortunately. No when I'm still a college student with limited money and time. I always cheer you from this faraway land, Daesungie! And I'm still very excited!!! I really am!!!! I'm very happy that finally we'll get a solo album from Daesung!! I'm never bored by saying this, but YEAH IT'S GONNA BE AWESOME!

While waiting for the album to be released, this is Wings, everyone.

And... meanwhile. While Daesung's fans will get his own album, when will be Choi Seunghyun's turn..? I know, I know that he's busy in acting and I can't wait for his upcoming movie, Alumni, which I believe will be daebak (just like Into The Fire that made me crying for minutes). But I know him and I love him first as a brilliant, outstanding rapper, so I really wish he'd release his solo album sometime (sooner, please, I'm begging...) in the future. I know that he's more than capable in writing lyrics and producing good songs. I love what he has released before, like Oh Mom and Turn It Up. Especially Oh Mom. The lyrics, the story behind the lyrics, the overall song itself, the way he sings it, really melt me down.

I mean, just look at his performance.

Another thing that I'm expecting? GD&TOP Vol. 2. As much as I want TOP to have his solo album, I also want this magical collaboration to be happened again. Just like what they said, GD&TOP is a double combo. Double perfection. The first album, GD&TOP Vol. 1 is pure gold, and I'm craving for more. Together, they're oozing their perfection, sexiness, and of course, the amazing natural rapping skill that they have. Have you seen the performance of Big Bang in MAMA 2012? Or I should say, the most amazing performance of that night?

Here, if you missed it.

The first song they sang is actually GD's solo song, Crayon. And I got stunned, at the very beginning, when TOP came out and suddenly rapped his own version of Crayon and that's just awesome. And to be honest I thought that would be another GD&TOP stage just like in MAMA 2010. Oh, by the way, GD&TOP (and Taeyang) really owned the stage, in MAMA 2010.

Flawless. Unexpected. Fierce.

My favorite track from GD&TOP Vol. 1 is Baby Goodnight. That song, and the music video, just go straight to my heart and I can't help but love it so much. First impression about this song: sexy. I'm not lying, but this is the sexiest song I've ever heard. Well, not only the song, the music video is also... sexy. But nothing beats the sexiness that they're oozing in live performance, to be honest.

Yes, I love live performance better. This is actually why I love Big Bang in the first place. They really sing with their mind and heart in every stage's they're performing in, and they always nail it. They have the right attitude on stage, no body can resist their charisma. And this is why I really enjoyed their live performance in Jakarta couple months ago. Best night ever.

Well, that's it. From Daesung.. to TOP, to GD&TOP. I really want them to be happened soon soooo bad. It doesn't mean that I'm not waiting for another GD/YB/Seungri solo, though. Three of them already have their solo albums. And actually I'm expecting Taeyang's work next year since actually he's been working for it for some time now! And GD actually has just released his new album this year, and Seungri just released his album VVIP last year. So, yeah, I'm just waiting for Daesung's and Tabi's turn...

Oh, you know what else I'm expecting for? Another Big Bang epic comeback, which is rumored to be released by fall next year. But seriously, since YG's calendar is messed up, so... better be ready for the expected shifted dates.

Love Call from France

Loving all these pictures of 2NE1 in France for W Korea Magazine. They were attending the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in Cannes, France, and they were serving as joint public speakers at one of the seminars to further spread K-Pop awareness.

Flawless queens. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Loving all their outfits, especially Dara's green dress and CL's plaid coat. Park Bom will always be the lovely queen, and that red hat is cute. And look at Minzy, she's growing up and she looks prettier, prettier, and prettier.

But it's their attitude that makes them look gorgeous even more.

Love and Hate: G-Dragon

I've never thought I would fall for a man like him, who always have crazy hair and crazy outfits:

I knew GD from Family Outing episode. I hadn't known about Big Bang back then so I didn't really care. Later, after I knew Big Bang... this man really surprised me (well, he's always surprising). He constantly changes his hairstyle until sometimes I can't recognize him! To be honest I hate some of his hairstyle and feel like screaming WHY GD WHY!!!!!! Not only his hairstyle but also his outfits.

Seriously, sometimes his outfits are more like... weird? And I'm pretty sure it's only him who can pull those crazy styles off -if I found one man walking around dressed like GD, he'd probably look like clown. But strangely... most of the time, after one day hating his style, I'll end up liking it. It happens to me. And apparently to many other VIPs as well.

Let me give you one picture of him... in his pink hair. I give you the best one:

(Yes, I hated his pink hair. And yes, now I'm okay with it.)

His quirky style is meant to him only. Please, anyone else pleeeeeease don't try to copycat his style. It's 99% chance that you'd fail!

He's an icon. Music icon, fashion icon, you name it. He's probably not the best looking idol, his outfits are sometimes weird, but he's a musical genius. A perfectionist leader, rapper, composer. I admire his passion, work, creativity... That's probably why I can't hate him for long time.

(For you who want to know more about his work and his life story, go check this article. This article is actually the summary of reasons why, I like him.)

Kpop: Bittersweet Industry

Nah, wherever you are, have you ever heard these names of idol groups or even their songs: Super Junior, SNSD (Girl's Generation), Big Bang, 2NE1, 2PM, TVXQ/DBSK? Wherever you are, in Asia or not, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people now at least know one of them. Those are the most popular Kpop idol groups (in my opinion) and there are still a lot of groups out there -and a lot more to come.

The fans.

For me, the most standout difference between Kpop and any other musics is the fans. The fanbases. I am a fan of Big Bang, I call myself an VIP. I admit I'd never thought I would fall for any Kpop groups this much until I knew Big Bang a year ago. My Mom sees me as a 'hardcore' fan. Meh. She just doesn't know the other fans out there... If she figured out how the other fans are, then she'd realize that I'm nowhere near hardcore (please, I don't even have a single physical album of Big Bang).

It's been awhile since I knew Kpop. At first I was... shocked. The fans are so determined to make their oppars/unnies happy and thus make themselves happy. They plan to bulk-buy physical albums, buy all versions of that, wait outside the airport to greet although it's midnight or early in the morning, go to every concerts their idols hold... For a newbie, those things shocked me a lot. Even now, although I already understand the feelings of being fans, their determination and energy for their oppars/unnies still amaze me. Do not underestimate the power and loyalty of fans! (Wait, me writing this, doesn't mean that I think these behaviors are wrong or what!)

Thousands of ELFs attending Super Junior's Super Show 4 at Tokyo Dome
In the midst of my shock, I was wondering... why? Why do the Kpop fans behave like that? What's so interesting about these idol groups until they would like to give everything for oppars/unnies?! I read in Tumblr that someone lost her virginity just to get money for buying albums, that some people suicide because their idol groups breakup. S e r i o u s l y... that's just unnecessary, and I'm sorry, stupid. I'm sorry for them. So yeah, back to the question, why? Being a K-idol fan for a year, I still haven't figured out the best answer (because basically I like Big Bang because of their musics, and at first I enjoying their musics only. My curiosity that leads me to 'stalk' them in web and I also don't know why eventually I also care about the other aspects of Big Bang.)

And of course, no need to mention sasaeng fans. Crazy fans who stalk (in real life) their idols every single time, hurt their idols physically whenever they meet... and the rest of their crazy activities can you read here. Oh, delusional people.

The musics and performances.
Being a K-idol fan for a year, who often read allkpop and soompi, I take another notes about this industry. One, is about the idols, their company, and their musics. The big 3 entertainment company in Korea are SM Entertainment (Super Junior, SNSD, DBSK, etc), YG Entertainment (Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, etc), and JYP Entertainment (2PM, 2AM, Wonder Girls, etc). Among them, I like YG the most.

Yonghwa from CN Blue
YGE lets its artists to produce their own musics. That's why I really like Big Bang which songs are produced mostly by GD, their songs are genuine and evolving, different in every comeback. I also like the other producers in YGE because, yeah, their musics are different than the other. Of course it doesn't mean that the songs from other entertainments are bad. But to be honest, for me, the musics from the other companies have.. the same feelings. Well, for me. It's just like, if I listen to some musics from different groups without knowing the songs first, I wouldn't know that they're sung by different groups. (Test me now. I still can't differentiate some groups by their voices although I've been lurking around listening to their musics.) I think Kpop needs more creativity. So each groups has its own uniqueness. Could it be that because one group is so successful with this kind of music, then the others also do this music to reach the same success?

Yonghwa from CN Blue also famous for his self-writing songs. But again, just because GD or Yonghwa or anyone else write their own songs, all of them are good. And other groups whose their musics are mainly produced by anyone else, doesn't mean that the musics are bad. People have different taste!

Also, Kpop idols dance. In their performances (or in their music videos), they dance. Since I like dancing, I enjoy watching them dancing in synergy on stage! And they're dancing while singing -that's difficult! It's tiring and difficult. And maybe it's the reason why, sometimes, they do lip-sync. I'm okay with lip-sync as long as they don't do it too often. Because hey... they're singers who also dance, not dancers who also sing.

The appearances.

Kpop idols = plastic surgery. Really? Just because they're pretty and handsome, doesn't mean they all had plastic surgery. Personally, I don't really care if someone had plastic surgery because what really matters is the voice and the overall performance. But what bothers me... Somehow it seems like the look is more important. The girl groups being sexy, the boy groups also being sexy. Yes, look is also important since it also sells, but they are singers. Their voice should be put in the first place.

I don't think it's good to produce a group just because they all are so pretty and sexy while their musics are just okay (in other word, not good). I give you an example, a Kpop group named Swing Girls. Read this article from allkpop. Well, so basically this group is formed because... all members have D-cup size of bra. S e r i o u s l y. I quote this from the comment on that article by Kristi: If having Korean D-cup breasts and being 170cm is all you need to become an idol, I fear for the fate of music.

Now I give one example of Korean singer who recently released mega hit song. He's not an idol, not young, and less attractive compared to K-idols. But he successfully grabs international attention even without trying! He's PSY. Only with super fun song and music video of Gangnam Style, he makes it viral. Wall Street Journal, CNN, LA Times even made coverage for this! Psy grabs this attention without being sexy!

The pressure.

Being idols = being role models. That's why they're being watched closely not only by fans, but also the media. One mistake could be a disaster. Well, it doesn't happen in Korea only, it's basically a pressure that all entertainers have. The pressure for being good all the time.

Tablo
What makes me sad and angry is this kind response of some people after the idols make mistakes: sending death threats. Death threats are just TOO MUCH. Idols are also humans! Humans do mistakes! After having trauma because of the incidents they make, idols also suffer because of the pressure around them.

The stupidest case I know is Tablo's Stanford degree controversy. Tablo is a rapper. Some people didn't believe that Tablo graduated from Stanford, then they formed an anti-cafe called Tajinyo (means demand the truths from Tablo). Tablo did EVERYTHING to clear these things out. He published the graduation certificate which is a PROOF that he really graduated from Stanford. But those -sorry- stupid people denied this fact and up to now they still continue accusing Tablo. They didn't just say bad things about Tablo, but some people sent threats to Tablo and his family. What a sad life they have. Don't you have other things to do other than disturbing someone's life?!

For you who have interest in this Tablo case, read this article from WIRED.

Kpop is sweet.

This super long writing might be seen as the 'bitter' aspects of Kpop only. So where is the sweet? The sweetest things about Kpop, K-idols, K-entertainers: they are super friendly and FUNNY! I like their personality! I'm a fan of Running Man (a variety show). That show is super funny and it shows us the personality of K-artists when they're not performing on stage. I don't need to know who they are first to love them in variety show lol. Seriously, Kpop idols are sweet. Not only the fans who show love for the idols, but the idols also show love for the fans.

Running Man - Nickhun & Taecyeon from 2PM episode

This is only my opinion from what I read and what I heard. Please correct me if I'm wrong with some facts, but mainly this is just an opinion. You may not agree with me but it's okay! We all have different thoughts anyway. And sorry, I know it's full of grammar mistakes!

Enjoy the Kpop musics, guys!

BIG BANG!

Halo, blog! Udah delapan bulan nggak nulis apapun disini. Oke quick news, sekarang alhamdulillah gue udah resmi jadi mahasiswa Fakultas Teknologi Industri ITB. Akhirnya, kawan, nasib membawa gue kembali ke FTI, mau betapa seringnya gue galau soal fakultas/jurusan :’) Dan alhamduillah nasib membawa gue ke FTI ITB, fakultas dan perguruan tinggi idaman gue!

Oke jadi... Post ini gue dedikasikan untuk... BIG BANG! Bosen banget gue sekarang haha, mending gue racunin kalian-kalian semua ini biar suka Big Bang! (Fyi, gue udah sukses racunin beberapa temen gue bahkan yang cowok hanya berbekal video klip dan klip konser mereka.) Cerita serius tentang hidup gue belakangan ini kapan-kapan deh ya.. #siapajugasihyangpeduli #yakaliajaada

Pertama-tama, perkenalan!

Tapi gue nggak pernah ke-hook sama mereka, gue bahkan masih nggak peduli gitu sama Kpop. Sampai akhirnya teman gue mengenalkan gue pada variety show Korea: Running Man.

SALAH! Jujur pertama kali gue lihat Daesung gue nggak tahu banget kalo dia itu ternyata anggota boy band. Abis dia wajah-wajah pelawak sejati gitu, lucu banget! Dan beda sama karakter wajah-wajahnya boyband lain gitu. Enggak, bukannya jelek, tapi sebelumnya gue udah kemakan sama stereotype wajah artis-artis Korea. Sampai akhirnya di FO Daesung digodain karena Big Bang baru release hit terbaru mereka: Lies. Penasaran, langsung gue buka Youtube. Dan gue jatuh cinta. #eea

Judulnya Tonight, penyanyinya Big Bang. Dan gue langsung terpana gitu video klipnya bagus banget, lagunya bagus banget, dan member nya jadi beda jauh......... Jadi makin ganteng. Silahkan bandingkan sendiri.

versus

Personally, this is my most favorite track and mv from them. Everything is perfect.

Pake poin-poin deh kalo gitu.
  • Not only a producer, leader, and rapper of the group, GD is also a fashionista. Ampun banget sama satu orang ini. Sejarah rambutnya tak terhingga, sekarang aja rambutnya pink. He's GD." He attended Paris Fashion Week 2012 recently. Front row, baby!
  • I don't have bias. But I feel like my heart loves TOP so much lol. GD&TOP collaboration is daebak (this is a sub-unit). GD&TOP Vol. 1 is a masterpiece, love ALL the tracks! And I'm begging for Vol. 2, please T_T
  • Reliable international fansite: bigbangupdates :)
  • I'm in dilemma. I already purchased a Big Bang concert tix in Jakarta on Oct 13 but I have midterm test on Oct 15 T_T (Roberta, Ave, gimana ini!!!!)
  • Taeyang = forever mohawk.
  • Daesung is known as smiling angel. He used to be called ugly but NEH. His smile is precious.
  • Their fans are called VIP!!!
  • The rappers are GD and TOP, the rest of them are vocalists (although sometimes Taeyang raps too). TOP is also an actor and currently he's filming his new movie: Alumni!
  • Seungri is the most fluent Japanese speaker *proud proud proud*. And currently he's busy filming in Japan, ALONE :D
Kira-kira begitu deh hahahah :D Terakhir... Inilah list lagu Big Bang terfavorit gue, in random order:
1. Blue
2. Lies
3. Haru Haru
4. Tonight
5. Fantastic Baby
6. My Heaven
7. Baby Goodnight
8. High High
9. Still Alive (DAEBAK!!!!!!)
10. Monster

Gituuuuuuuuuu deh. Bye bye!
